birthday bushlite

My lovely missus just let me have one of my birthday presents a couple of weeks early :) a smashing little bushlite candle lantern. What a great little bit of kit it is! Compact, light, well made and gives a lovely pleasant light to work or relax by. What swung it for me over the uco was that the bushlite takes ordinary household candles cut in half - an easy enough job, readily available and cheap as chips! Love it so much i've turned the kitchen light out and i'm cooking the kids tea by candlelight! Even tried it in our alley - a veritable wind tunnel and it stood up to the wind no problem!

I reckon the extra couple of quid is worth it, given what you'll save in the long run by not having to buy UCO candles.

She must REALLY love me - she's managed to get me two more bushlites, but these ones are BRASS!!! they're super lovely!!! There's even the promise of more pressies to come! :-)

they look spot on,do they give a brighter light than a plain candle on its own...atb kev

Hard to say, they certainly give a good light and I imagine there will be a magnifying effect from the glass chimney. It definitely gives a good light to read by :-) can be made more focussed either by the aftermarket reflector or by my homemade tinfoil reflector. The main advantages are that the candle doesn't get blown out, the flame is safely contained, they can be hung up easily and they just look mint!!

They do look fantastic. I own a UCO micro and failed to foresee the problem that if you knock it, then the wax goes Everywhere. I do like the look of these over the UCO :-)

I was thinking of saving up for a tilly lamp, but must say these little things look pretty impressive, might be time for a wee rethink.
