Yeah it's pretty easy to get tucked away, just wait for the crowds to disappear around late afternoon and then you usually get the place to yourself. It's actually legal to camp in the Lakes as long as you're above the intake walls ...

It sometimes pays to be away early depending on where you end up, you might wake up to a crowd of grannies tucking into their sarnies if you sleep in :)
