This is not a tutorial, just sharing what I did today......
Moving on from my other thread on "Chopping wood with out a chopping block" link HERE (http://www.naturalbushcraft.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?7347-Copping-wood-without-a-quot-chopping-block-quot) I decided to have a go at a bigger peice of wood....a Silver Birch that fell foul to the winter winds...

I first chopped/sawed through the trunk supporting the wood with a lever type device with a purpose to stop the blade on my small bow saw from jamming as the saw cut closes up...

It was apparent to me that my bow saw was too small to cut logs of this size..
so after making a couple of wedges I started the "split" by (safely) striking the end of the log with my axe, following on the split with the wedges...

And again, just because I wanted to really

then just split with the axe, the same technique as in the other thread..

after it was all cut and chopped I loaded the logs into my bag..

they are now stacked in my mall log store ready to be burnt here..
