Give it a good clean with hot soapy water, then get it good and hot so its smoking take it off the heat and pour some Veg oil inside it and coat all the inside and let it cooland wipe out excess oil,Or to save you all that trouble send it to me:happy-clapping:nice find.

As Tony said - very nice find. I think a new one would be £50 or more.

Looking forward to seeing a piccy of the first meal you cook in it. :p

Looking at those pics I wouldn't say it needed much in the way of seasoning. Just give it a scrub with a stiff brush, no water or soap, get it nice and hot in the oven and spray some veg oil over it. Back in the oven for a short spell and repeat if required.

i will probably fire it outside jus,i tried doing that in the oven a few years ago with an old pot i had..couldent see through the smoke for about an hour.
could it not crack if i sit it in a fire empty to season it? to be honest its not to bad inside so might just fill it and boil it a few times before use.
like the comments chaps :D ..leprechaun indeed lol

If you dont get some oil in it after the boil it will go rusty.

Mark "seasoned" his at the last breakfast club meet but heating it over the fire and then once it was nice and hot he applied the oil. None of the delicious risotto he then cooked in it leaked out so we can confirm it was free of cracks.

What a find! Well done mate. I would love to have a rummage around the tip. But our is no longer a "tip" it's now a "recycle centre". All you can do is chuck your relevant material over the relevant bay. All separately.

thats what ours is mate, its all bays and all very efficiant and clinical but they have a recycling section, anything worth having gets put in there...i have had some finds in there i can tell you..brand new pine coffe table, just happend to be the same style as the rest of our house..£400 worth!..i also got the full set of le creuset cast iron cookwear and i mean the full set,god knows the value but i love it and wont use anything else now.
we have a lot of finance on the island and is or was a very affluent nation, because people have this wealth it makes them..well you know what i mean without being rude...atb kev

Yes it is. I was over for the 2008 TT. It's an amazing place with some VERY beautiful countryside. Didn't see a lot of that then though, was too busy hacking over the mountain section at 150mph, while trying to calm it down sufficiently not to kill myself, ha!
