Ay up!

I have a great little poncho which I want to use as an emergency tarp... I'm considering taking six holdons in the kit instead of punching permenent eylets (I always bodge it and they rip)

The question is, will holdons do the job if they are the only fixing points and do I need to buy mini or midi (bit bigger) holdons?

Best wishes....

Hi Tent Peg ... No experience of "hold ons" so I really couldn't say ...

However I have had great success with small "power balls" ...

( Pirate Cannon Balls from the 99p shop ... think there were eight in a pack !!! )

Hold ball against underside of tarp / plastic sheet ... tie around it with paracord or similar from upper surface ...

use a prepared slip knot / clove hitch or similar and bingo ...

Found they work better than pebbles or marbles ... sometimes you cant find a pebble when you want one !!!

As they are rubbery they grip the tarp / sheet really well ...

With a good knot or hitch there is no slipping !!!

Cheers Whistle

great idea... thunk I may stick a few in my pack, just in case.

am still intrigued by the holdon clips as a semi permanent solution replacing riveted eyelets

Limpets (holdons) are designed to only give extra fixing points to supliment the premade ones. I'd make webbing loops to be honest. If you have an awl it's easy to fix them on to the tarp.

clingons, they must work in a similar way. Gonna buy me some, no doubt they will come in useful!
