After getting back from a two day hike carrying around 20-25kg I've been looking at reducing the weight a bit so been looking at a tarp shelter that not only keeps you dry but does something about the midges as well. Anyway came across this site and it may be of use to others https://www.tarptent.com/projects/tarpdesign.html just need to hone the sewing skills :ashamed:

I'm too lazy to make one lol. I just use a mozzinet (the sort you hang above a camp cot, or the centre of your tent), and a tarp. For really lightweight, I use an Alpkit Rig7 (stated 520g, but more like 500g) for the tarp. I always use the tough plastic pegs too (7g each), and have never had one break or crack, even when hammering them into rocky ground with a lump of granite.
It may not be quite as light as the ones above, but it's light enough for my needs :)
