yes can confirm definatly horse chestnut and they are looking rather splendid this year as are many others...atb kev

Thanks Kev. The missus and me were out for a walk this morning and were amazed at the hawthorn blossom including what looks like pink hawthorn which I haven't seen before. She was particularly taken with a couple of Horse Chestnut trees which look splendid like you say. Cheers, Darren

We have lots of those planted in the suburbs as shade trees. Lovely flowers, too - and the flower grouping makes it easy to identify at a distance ;).

yes mate the hawthorn here are almost drooping with the amount of blossom..me old mum always says its the sign of a hard winter to come :rolleyes:...more like good growing weather lol

There's a beautiful horse-chestnut at the bottom of Bridge Hill in St Columb Major, ansum and has me in awe always when I pass it at this time of year. It has it's feet in a river and has probably grown to be magnificent as a result.
