Hi all, I stumbled on this site looking for info on wild camping in Cannock Chase Forest, I'm a keen camper and love to go with my family on the barest budget possible hence the wild part, but that's not the only reason I love wild camping. I think we all need time to get close to nature with our busy lives these days I think it's important to take in our beautiful planet when we can.

I've just got back from North Wales near Rhyl, we tried to camp in a woodland there, but struggled to even find anywhere close to it that we could park the car safely. We ended up on a small campsite near there. It wasn't what we wanted but served it's purpose after we had drove around for 2 hours, we just wanted to set up camp.

Mostly I have camped in Gloucestershire having lived there for 20 years, I started when I was around 15 and never stopped, I have to say there are loads of places to camp there and I have never had an issue with any landowner, saying that I always try to camp in woodland and not in the open.

I hope there are others on this site with similar interest, I would love to hear from you and thanks for reading

Hi from a noob. Your title reminded me of an AA meeting! lol. But this is an addiction that doesn't need fixing. Have a good one.

Welcome to the forum Adrian. Remember that wild camping in most areas isn't exactly legal without the owners permission. Ok, now the official bit is out of the way ;)
I'm not overly familiar with the area, as I've only been there once, but it's a big enough place to find a quiet spot. Like you say, parking can be tricky at most places, which is always a worry, but as it's not always possible to cycle to a site, use public transport, or get a lift in from a friend, it's something we all have to deal with at some point :(
Wherever you go, and whatever you do, just make sure you're safe, both from other people that may be in the area, and from yourself (sharp things etc) and have a fun, relaxing time :D
