Does anybody know the correct distance that a Trangia burner should be from the pan to give the quickest boiling results. I have googled it but there are so many different answers.
Cheers.
Sorry if this isn't the answer, but at school we were taught that the hottest part of the Bunsen burner flame is where it changes from yellow to blue. I know thats with gas, but maybe it works for other fuels. Just a thought.

hello,
The longer the Trangia stove has been running, the quicker/better it will boil a litre of water or faster cooking of your food. From knowledge the burner achieves maximum output when the jets begin to operate fully. This takes at least a 1-2 minutes of burner operation & is often accompanied by what sounds like a small pop sound, the reason being the stove housing warms up significantly during several minutes of operation with near as equal distribution of the heat around the pot. The addition of a lid & regular stirring of the food contributes to even cooking too as well as circulation of air to allow the flames to breath. I don't think there is any real hard fast answer to your question Neil my 2p worth.
Regards
David
