View Full Version : Coleman Dual Fuel 553 problem
Hi All
I have a Coleman dual fuel stove that was working perfectly when I put it away last year but now I cannot pump it any more. There just doesn't seem to be any resistance when pumping.
Am I doing something wrong or do I need to replace seals etc

Try lubricating the piston seals with a silicone grease.
Is the piston seal leather? It may have tried out...

As above - check the seals.
Pump seal or filler seal may be allowing air past.
Flow valve may be leaking preventing pressure build up.

lots of info on this site, I briefly dabbled but never really got on with the one I had for a few weeks (and I have no shortage of other stoves) they seem popular with the dangling folk so rummage around the site for ideas and solutions.

I know its a stupid question but have you twisted the pump stem a little to the left before pumping. The amount of times I have done the same thinking mine was broken is embarrasing.

I'll agree there.. Also, while pumping, have you remembered to cover the hole on top of the piston?... 30-40 pumps should create enough pressure....

I'd change the pump cup and filler cap seal. Give Mike a ring at http://www.base-camp.co.uk/default.htm and he'll sort you out no problem.
