Hi People
I will be holding a meet on Fri 8th August, running until Sunday afternoon.
The location is Flintshire North Wales. The site is fantastic. A huge mixed woodland, which hasn't been managed, rather, left to its own accord. It's wild but wonderful.
There is a stream running through, so while water procurement is possible, it is still advised that you bring your own.
As its my first meet at this location, I'm keeping the numbers reasonable.
12 person limit. All are welcome. I'm hopeing for some of the Northern Soul Bushcraft Group, and North Wales bushcrafters, will come. You've made me feel very welcome at your meets, id very much like to repay your hospitality.
RULES.
#1 If you pack it in. Pack it out.
#2 Please act in a manner, that you would expect from me, on property that you are responsible for.
#3 Enjoy yourself.
Look forward to seeing you fireside.

SATURDAY TIME PLAN. ( for me, you can do as you wish )
Not being regimental, this is so i can commit a set amount of time, to different activities and not leave regretting that i never done, such and such.

11am. WOOD WALK
Not so much a plant identification, more for you to learn the landmarks and be able to find your way back to base camp, should you go exploring.

1pm. ARCHARY
Any one not doing Archary at this time, PLEASE ensure that you are accompanied by TWO members. One either side of the range as spotters.

2pm FIRE-CRAFT ( talk and demonstration )
A chance to learn or improve our fire-craft. I will show 10 different ways to start a fire. Anyone hopeing to achieve fire by friction or improve their technique, should enjoy.

3pm. SHELTER. ( simple lean too )
We may say it takes half an hour, and while we are enjoying ourselves makeing it, it may feel like, half an hour. The simple fact is to find a spot, gather wood and erect a simple lean too, takes over an hour. Let's give ourselves two.

6pm. GROUP MEAL
I will cook a group meal. It will be a stew/curry. Kebabs and salad. The rest of the time it's self service.

DISCLAIMER
Anybody attending the meet, does so on the complete understanding, that neither i or the landowner will accept liability or responsibility, for any accidents or injuries incurred attending the meet, or partaking in the above activities.

Fantastic. All the spaces are taken, and we have a great bunch of lads comeing.
There will be a reserve list, as due to family and work commitments, people are often forced to pull out. Will add my Saturday time-plan to the OP.

I've had a couple of PM, over cost of camp and contributions to the group's meal.
There is no charge, for the camping or group meal.
The gentleman who has give me permission to hold the meet, flat out refused to charge us, or accept payment.
With regards to food.
The Saturday, group meal is on me. I wish i could provide three group meals a day for the duration. Unfortunately, time, cost and my personal enjoyment, just don't make it feasible. I will have plenty of spare Porridge, noodles, nut, eggs, bread etc. So if anyone needs or wants anything at anytime, it's there.
You can contribute by.
Share your knowledge, we can all learn from each other.
Be positive and enthusiastic. ( I know some of you must be sick of me, and my bow-drill ) ;)
Make sure the person next to you is ok. Offer him a brew.

It's often the people, that make a place special. Let's have goodun.

I'm also currently mapping a route to walk from Mold to the site. I'm guessing I know where it is Ammo. ;)

OKEY DOKE, in that case, as it was tradition on Northern Soul Meets, I'll supply a selection of cheese's, and a rather nice bottle of Port.

Also as it is not the way of the "bushcrafter" to take without offering something in return, how about chipping in and asking Biker Bri to make the land-owner one of his rather splendid tankards, by way of a thank you......

Cheers Ian....

Anywhere from £40 upwards Alan depending on how much art work there is to be done, all the tankards hold approx 600 ml of fluid.

I am still defo coming to the meet. Spent last night planning the walk in, 17.9km but thats not with the contour additions. HEY FELLAS,
I have spoken to Bri about the leather tankard gift for the landowner and hopefully he will be starting it within the next couple of days and it should be ready for the meet... I will pay for the tankard to be made and will collect the necessary contributions from the attendee's at the meet.

The design will be the "Greenman" on the main body of the tankard with the blokes name on the handle,12342

similar to the Northern Soul tankards 12341

and the "Celtic leather craft" logo, 12340 no doubt Bri will post some pic's during the making process.....

Bri has also made a very generous offer to do a group buy discount should anyone else like a tankard making, and will do them for £34 each plus postage, should he receive 3 or more commissions, but as most live reasonably close you could always collect...... Each tankard will be furnished with a design of your choice and your name on the handle, so let your creative juices flow.... If you require any further information contact Bri via a PM or CELTICLEATHERCRAFT on facebook, or have a con-flab at the meet.... cheers Ian...

Hi all, sort for being quiet of late. I am still coming this weekend but will no longer be walking to the site. Have to work the Friday but have bagged an early dart. Nearly got all the bits ready for the lucky dip. Hopefully I'll have a full 12 things ready....

I have a 3X3 ( approx ) homemade tarp and an army basha we could sling together to make a shelter, would ash burl make nice knife scales ? ;)

I've just remembered I've got a 3 x 3m approx. plastic tarp with eyelets in, certainly not lightweight but who cares. I don't think I'll get it in the backpack but I'm prepared to hand lug it if need be. Let me know if it's worth bringing....

Valantine

If we can get a few smaller tarps we should be OK.
I have 2 ponchos 3 if I can find the missing one in the storage unit :ashamed:

Bring a chair lads. I've got a 4m tarp but cordage would be a help. There is plenty of dead fall about but maybe some wood, might help.
I expect to be there from 3-4pm. Not possible for me to arrive earlier due too work, but I will try.
I've been working and training while sick this week, can't wait for a few days rest.

Boys I had a great time and enjoyed meeting you all. My apologies for having to bug out on Saturday but issues raised at home and I had to assist in sorting out an out of control 10 year old lad. I've got my extension ready for the next meet and will not be missing it!!
It's a great woodland and the wild life there is amazing, natter jacks, huge dragonflies, deer trails, rabbits. I even got to watch a fox feed her cubs a rabbit whilst I was stalking.
Thanks again billy for sharing this place with us.

Apologies gentlemen - it looks like I have left some of my kit behind - a small cup I used for my whisky last night, a large fry pan thingy and a plastic storage box full of 2 in 1 coffee - I am not bothered about
losing the items, but I am bothered that someone else has had to carry it out, so to whoever did so "my thanks to you sir"
Cheers Bri

All Credit to Ammo and Billy, plus, a Big Thank You to Everyone...it's been an Honour spending such time with you all.
