Hi all,
Can anyone recommend a safe place to leave my car over a couple of nights near tryfan or pen-y-pass for snowdon?
Read a few posts re lay-by parking but I'm nervous about getting my broken into etc
Ps I'm planing a two night wild camp, crib goch, snowdon and over to tryfan.
Cheers
Rich

Hi Rich, you could try contacting Willys Barn web-site HERE (http://gwerngofisaf.co.uk/snowdonia-national-park/), you will have to pay but as camping is £5 PPPN it shouldnt break the bank, and you could leave a route plan/ETA with them.
Its what I used to do before I found my canoe :)
Happy hiking
Cheers
Tim
PS its right by Tryfan ;)

Cheers Tim, that was my earlier idea. I emailed Kirsty at the campsite and she said they weren't insured unless the owner (camper) stays there so she wouldn't do it.

Going to park on the road side and risk it.

Hi Rich
I've done crib goch and Tryfan a fair few times, make sure your not on yellows as ive seen cars upon cars getting tickets, its hard to find a good safe place but I'd would chance campsite rather than side of the road, enjoy your trip and be careful of crib goch especially in the wind.

Thanks for the advice Sylvanbilly! I've had a slight change of plan and I'm now going to avoid Snowdon as I think its going to be too busy. Instead I'm going to kit Tryfan via the North first and circle round clockwise and over Carnedd Dafydd.
My plan is to decide on the day, but I'm going to either park on the roadside as there seems to be plenty of space on the A5. Or like you say, pay for camping and risk getting a slap on the wrist when I return for not staying. If I park on the road I'll not leave anything in the car and leave the glovebox open etc etc.

That's a shame, try on Nomad GB HERE (http://www.nomadgb.co.uk/#/?address=Snowdonia%20United%20Kingdom&radius=200000000000000000) for idea's.
Cheers

Might be worth dropping in to Ogwen Valley Mountain Rescue base if you're leaving the car along the A5 there and let them know. Saves any callouts for missing persons etc. And who better as an emergency contact to leave your route with.
