Whilst camping I saw a fella with this cool looking tarp-tipi mod and thought to myself, "I'll have me some of that" a brief chat to him and my mind was now ticking over.

So I sourced me some strong material, this being the base of a camp chair folded it up and attacked it with a needle and thread added a couple of loops for the tarp to attach to and a guy rope.

Very impressed with this. One thing that the tipi/belltent needs is a porch. I've only seen them attached to the door , and the low headroom has stopped me from getting one. Think i need this attachment point and canvas tarp now.

T^ Now that's clever :). Makes a little more room, and brightens up the laavu. I think the best part, though, is that you don't have to "batten-down-the-hatches" during a rain shower - you get a nice view out the front ;).

Thanks for that. I have used a tarp with my Luxe Sylpeak for some extra cover and rain protection but it had a tendency to slip at the apex. This will do very nicely.

It was one of those times that make you slap yourself on the forehead and say "why didn't I think of that!"
A simple solution that works, there are many more configurations to this set up which I will experement with.
