The amazing thing about leaving lavvu poles in place is that the shelter automatically adapts itself in summer and winter. In winter as the ground gets covered with snow, the surface area gets smaller of course (it's a cone...)
So then you have less space you have to heat, you can carry less canvas AND...the poles are bombproof because they go all the way down to the ground...
In summer, you have more space, (you will probably have more people there in summer), and it is nice and cool because the lavvu is so high...
So to the question - how high should my lavvu be? - think about how much snow is likely to fall and how much space you will need for a small team in winter...
Easy.

Well, for me what you have there is to steep. Pull the poles out some more. Also they look to be to thin for me. probably ok for summer, but in a wind or with heavy wet snow I think they do not look strong enough.
Here is a bunch of pictures of traditional and som not so traditional lavvu.

Yep I already changed the angle and the spreading of the poles... (I kind of didn't want to do it on the day because lots of people helped with the build and just basically had other things to supervise during that... ;-) ...)

Putting up a lavvuu is a lot like making love to a beautiful woman - you have to make sure all the ground is prepared, then you erect your pole and slip into the bag.*

Susanne tends to get a lack of respect for her outdoor activities...maybe because she's just a gal;) She certainly does more than the majority of us who frequent bushcraft sites who could/did/can't get out as much as she can and does.

Haha it's all good buddy. Then they come out and actually try to keep up with me...
"I said - 'Just say No to UN-necessary suffering' - and brother...your suffering right now? That be NECESSARY...."
Hahaaa....
And it's not like I am going fast or anything... nice and easy.
