Hi all,
if brains were dynamite, I wouldn't be able to blow my hat off. I been posting on this site for about a week before I noticed the introduction page. How rude - pardon my appalling etiquette.
My name is Andy and I hail from the wilds of Lincolnshire, on the edge of the fens and just south of where the landscape gets beautiful in the wolds (1/2 hours drive and I have the hills to myself). I enjoy walking and being in the woods just absorbing the atmos. I have been a recycler/meths stove maker for the last 2-3 years and my mind is always plotting a new improvement for size/weight/efficiency.
I am married, in my forties and have 2 kids, boy 16, girl 8. My wife (having 2 partial knee replacements at the age of 39) is not an enthusiastic walker, and son is not too interested either. However my little girl loves to venture out with me and we often do a bit of tree climbing with harnesses/rope and basic kit. I climb and rapell down, then hoist her into the canopy for an ariel swing. We have done a couple of local backpacking trips together, although she's not keep on kit carrying.
My mission in life is to try and whittle out all unnecessary complications that media and merchants thrust upon us, and concentrate instead on what's important.
Here's 2 interesting facts to consider.
1): 98% of all human history was spent in the stone age
2): If you held out both yours arms horizontally to represent all the time on earth, with the tip of one hand the beginning and the tip of the other as the present moment, then with one stroke of a nail file you could eradicate all human history!
I'm pushing on open doors here, you guys know where I'm at, and I don't suppose any of you are potential "reality show" contestants eh? Thankyou very much for making us new boys welcome on the site.
