Looking forward to March, birch sap time! What method have people had the most success with? I usually make a small nick and then wedge a bit of hollowed elder in leading to a cut off milk bottle. But is there a better method someone's found?

They are flowing down here in South Wales too. I did my first ever tap today. Didn't collect much, just enough to get a taste to satisfy my curiosity.

I was really proud of myself :)
