I am looking to have a go at using one where is best to get one I could have a bash at making one but I think my first should be made by someone who knows what they are doing.

Any good suppliers, makers that can be recommended?

There is a guy on here Sylvanbilly, he makes great cattys, best ive seen. If he cant help you the Millbro are good. I had a Barnett Diablo pro 2, with all the bells and whistles, i wasnt impressed with the build qaulity at all.

If you want a genuine Gamekeeper watch where you but it from, I know there was a lot of info on his sites about not using ebay due to sub standard copies,

check out his web site http://www.gamekeeper-catapults.co.uk/ it contains a section on picking the right catapult, hope this is useful,

Also I just remembered our own Justin ( Fish ) used to make and sell catties, maybe he still does

I'm amazed how accurate these are I've no idea how long it'll take to get good enough to take a rabbit. I assume you use ball bearings to give consistent results lord knows how many of those I'll need.

I make my own from natural forks and use lead balls as ammo. You can make a simple ball catcher from a box and an old t shirt or jumper hung so that it absorbs the energy of the ball when it hits. A fishing weight mould and a few simple tools is all it takes to keep you supplied with hours of fun :)

Re ammo for your catapult.toys R U,.Bags of marbles for a £1.for light ammo.LEE single cavity bullet mould .36 or .44 about
£15..scrounge some scrap lead/wheel weights..n cast your own.
Steel ball bearings can be bought of e=bay.in various sizes.Think I paid about £5 for 500.tho these were 8mm..which my cross-bow fires as well as bolts.
As stated earlier..a card board box fild with an old Cushion, clothes.will stop them, and enable you to re-use.
A visit to most gun shops will provide a selection of catapults.personally I'd stick to the basic forked stick principal ones.n reject the wrist braces, stabliser,Sights etc.Best of luck.

Well I ordered it and paid for it but no sign of it emails are going unanswered glad I used paypal as I think I'll give it another week and ask for a refund.

So does anyone know a reliable supplier I could try?

i make custom slingshots...

i can custom make you one to suit your needs... i am happy to trade for something...

options are hammer grip, finger thumb support or pinch grip...

ott attachment (over the top) ttf attachment (through the fork)

either flat bands (theraband) or tubes (dankung 2040)

made from multiplex or natural forks (also aluminium cored laminates if you want something pretty)

if you are interested pm me with the required specs...

i am open to trade for anything so feel free to list anything you are willing to trade...

i could also sell you one, but i dont think i am allowed here so a trade is fine for me...

i can post some pictures of my work for your vieweing pleasure if you like...

i generally include spare rubber (in sheet form to cut to your needs)
leather for pouches (as well as some premade spares)
a decent ammount of hex nuts for ammo (i can include steelballs if required but for first time shooters i reccomend hex nuts, if you can shoot with them accurately you can shoot with anything)

let me know thanks

Luke

EDIT: i do hope this post is within the terms of service in this forum.

i appologize in advance if it breaks any rules

also, i am not a business... i make these as a hobby

as for ammo, good cheap throw away ammo i get in wilko's

my local store does pick and mix diy bits and included in this are small hex nuts... for £3 i get a good 300-400...

you can use stones but they are different size and weight so accuracy is inconsistant...

i also use 9.5 or 8.2mm steel balls... but these are expensive and i only ever shoot into my catchbox...
hex nuts i shoot anywhere and everywhere as they are good cheap throw away ammo...

i hope this helps

Luke

Someone asked the question and you gave an answer, that doesn't constitute an advert as far as I can see. We are not avers to cash changing hands either but ask that it is all dealt with via PM's and not publicly through the forum. A signature on your posts is also acceptable providing it is not blatant advertising by putting it in the largest print available.

Personally, the PFS and marbles work best for me.
You can build your own. Check out PFS Shooter on YouTube for how to videos.
