I was just watching a video on youtube by ColinOutdoor's, he is talking about a hatchet he got.

Here's the video...

I googled the axe he show's, it isn't pricey at all compared to Wetterlings or Gransfors. It came up at about 25 quid. I think that's a good price for a hand forged axe.

Looks great, nice size too, obviously only time & use will show it's quality. Looks remarkably like Gransfor Bruks axe - nothing wrong with that as long as it's done right.

Thanks for sharing Edd,

Husqvarna axes are made by Wetterlings. You can tell by the fact that the heads are stamped SAW (Sven Axel Wetterling).

"Safe" Swedish axe brands to go for are; Gransfors, Hultafors, Wetterlings, Husqvarna and S. Djärv. No matter which of these brands you choose, you will get an excellent axe, that will last you many years.

If you are on a tight budget, a company like German Helko will provide you with a good tool at a very reasonable price, though not near as posh as the Swedish brands.

I’ve been using one of those for about a year now.
Nice little axe, light in weight.
It will split small logs well, good for carving, will easily make feather sticks.
Holds a keen edge, not quite as easy to get an edge on it as my gransfors carpenters axe.
Comes with an awful leather cover. My cover wasn’t like the one in the vid.
All in all a recommended buy.
