Anyone done this? Are they good lace replacers?

Paracord soak up water like a spunge, and the knot slips allthe time...unless you treat it with something. I tried it last time it was time to change laceses on my boots, but soaked the paracord in beeswax. They no longer suck up water, and they keep the knot :-)

Only ever used ,tempory fix,as Rune says slip n get soggy, but better than a loose boot.
Never thought of soaking in beeswax.(just replaced laces.)
Might make an emergency fire lighter,if soaked in wax???

I have paracord on my boots. As above they don't hold knots brilliantly but if you use surgeons knots where you want the tension held then it will keep your boots on.

Never tried it but I'm sure if you're out in the woods rubbing with pine resin would work too.

I'm old fashioned, I replace old boot laces with new boot laces.

Yep. Tried it, and as others say, the knots slip a lot. I've heard some tight braided paracords can hold a knot better, but haven't tried anything other than cheap Webtex cord.
