Green or tan for my Bergan's, webbing pouches, and tarp, clothing can be DPM or MTP so long it is comfortable and hard wearing.

For whatever kind of kit you fancy using it.
There are no hard and fast rules. Do whatever floats your boat. It's your day out in the woods and enjoy it how you want. Any kind of muted colour will allow you to blend in to the environment so go and use whichever suits you and makes you happiest.
I tend to use plain colours (a mix of greens, browns and greys - chosen on the basis of nothing other than whimsy or what colour options are available when I buy the item) rather than camouflage. But that's because I feel more comfortable in them and less (ironically) self-conscious.

I go for availability, longevity and price, greens and browns mainly but I do like my flecktarn parka.

Generally Olive Green for bags, clothes, etc...and maybe Navy Blue if the Green is not available. I generally think DPM is for the military or hunters and I would only us it if there was an advantage if shooting with a camera.

wearing camuflage makes me feel kind of self conscious too. But price tops fashion for me. I seldom have much of a choice.
Like with my only gore-tex jacket. It came in brittish dessert DPM, so that's what it is. Paid 25£ for it. If it was available at the time for the same price in Coyote brown, green, gray or even black I would have chosen that one. I'd probably be wearing it for other things than being out in the woods then.

I got a woodland DPM goretex jacket for £5. I know what you mean, I now have a Camo windbreaker and DPM jacket, but nothing with a good plain colour. When I was in London recently I didn't have any jacket because of what's being going on. Luckily it didn't rain though

I'm one of those, who prefers olive or tan, but I'll use whatever it available. Most of my kit is bought with two criteria. Price, and application. If DPM, MTP, Flecktarn, Rain drop, etc is cheaper, for the same item, I'll probably go for that one. As long as the kit does what it is meant for, it doesn't really bother me :)

Flecktarn the most used camo pattern in the world and I have to admit it's a bit of a favourite of mine :-)
( Happy New Year folks )
I prefer solid colours myself. Ive got MTP and DPM, jackets, but i use them for work. I find military surplus items very durable, and cheap. I think youll find that the cammo option isnt a fashion choice. Its often the only colour available in the item we need/want.

Coyote Tan
T^ Definitely :).
For a tarp, coyote brown blends in better with the forest floor and undergrowth than a solid green one, and I would argue it is superior to a DPM camouflaged tarp.
My clothing tends to be more olive green oriented, with some other dark colours mixed in. Enough to melt into the landscape, but not stand-out so much around other people. I'm not a big fan of camo....with the exception of flecktarn. :)

Olive green is ofen too dark. Wearing to dark colors is a common mistake when you don't want to be seen. Coyote brown is a much lighter color, so it works better in a forest environment. Most commercial DPM's I have seen are also too dark. Also too shiny materials. When we wen't on patrols in the summer in the army we would often just wear a beanie hat, and wool sweater instead of the combats jacket...more silent material and not so shiny...+ more silent.

Unfortunately, it can be hard to find brown clothing without it being too dark or two light (desert sand colour). The green clothes I have are a fairly light shade, but I do have an outer sweater which is a bit darker toned. ;)
