sculpture step by step

Hi everyone,

Today I would like to present you the different steps to sculpt this little guy :

At first, I came by this piece of wood : a holly.
I removed the bark from the branch a cut a 3cm high piece of wood.

Then I draw what I wanted to sculpt. (I first made a draw on the paper to see what it'll look like.)
I also drew the construction lines, and the place of the hat seen through the top.

You can sculpt it directly if you have a good 3D view, but everyone haven't it.
So my first advice is to saw the contour line in front the piece of wood and and the side. Really much easier and you can't make a mistake by doing like this.

After breaking all pieces of wood with my knife I obtain that :

This is a rough form, but the main I've been done. Now, I just need ta sharp edges.

It's gone, all that remains is for the details. Especially the hat gave me a lot of work and time.

But now it's finish, I delimited the eyes, pupils and eyebrows. I forgot the step of oiling the wood. I simply use olive oil ...
