Hi all,

I thought I'd make a brief introduction to say thank you for the great content I've lurked over for several months now.

Since around mid-2014 I've developed a growing interest in bushcraft as well as leathercraft, and honestly I was hoping that joining you guys might provide some opportunities to interact with others who share these pursuits (they seem to be on the fringe as far as hobbies go hehe).

I work as a freelance copywriter and am starting a BSc degree in Natural Sciences in Feb with the Open University, and in terms of recent bushcraft-related activities I'm planning my 2nd overnighter in the woods around Cuxton / Halling within the next week or so.

...so yeah, hello! :D

You've got some lovely kit, that's great leatherwork :). I find that configuring a DD 3x3 into laavu shelter is best done in a pentagon shape to keep things taught.

I peg the back in the middle point, and then count 3 points from there on either side and peg those - it helps if you make the angle from either of these to the centre back point fairly obtuse. Of course, you could make it a sharper angle, but it's a trade-off for more head room while losing floor space.
For the door, I just peg the front corners..the flap that remains is something I guy-out on one side, this way it's more wind resistant and less likely for precipitation to find it's way inside ;).

Hello and welcome. Some lovely looking leatherwork there.
That pot your drinking from looks suspiciously like the ones I made my Billy cans out of... TKMaxx by any chance?
