Thought I'd share a little advice:-

Never whittle around a dog who likes sticks.

Just got back from surgery after having a tendon repaired after one of my daft mutts decided they liked the look of the spoon I was whittling. Silly woofer grabbed the wood I was using and put my knife through my finger!:zombie-fighting:

gahhhhhhhh man thats nasty, will you get all the finger movement back?

I thought I had it back when Shylock (who was that day known as sh**lock) scudded me on the head with a substantial log he decided to run past me with as i was sitting down

speedy recovery!

Thanks buddy,

Surgery went well, they laid open my finger and spliced the tendon together, surgeon was impressed, couldn't have done a cleaner cut himself - least I know the knife is sharp.

Should get all movement back, which is good news, normally with Mallet deformations (look at me knowing technical terms now :) )the tendon ruptures and can't be spliced properly, but as this was a clean slice, no problems.

Was quite interesting watching them poke around before hand and finding out all about tendons, then they put me under for the actual surgey.

eek - Sorry to hear this Mike! We wish you all the best & hope you get back full movement/use.

I haven't cut a Tendon but I have snapped one in my little finger before and that was a right pain in the backside for many weeks after, so I feel your pain in some ways.

I advise you stop working on that spoon now, that can be the official dog-beating stick for when he's naughty. :(

Thanks Jeep,

Just read your thread about your knife mishap. Just goes to show no matter how careful you are accidents can still happen, Like you I've never really had a serious knife accident until now.

Hope your finger is feeling better - mines going to be out of action for at least a month to ensure the Tendon heals correctly, think I can start mild exercises with it in about 3 weeks time.

Your comment about A+E was nice though, I was in there for 5 hours before I was properly seen, then I had to go home, come back the next day and wait another 5 hours before they could get me into theatre for surgery, so you were lucky with a 40 minute turn around.
