Just spent a few days on Cannock Chase, beautiful place to stay if you're in the midlands. :) Ran into a snake, though not sure what species it is. He seemed very pissed off at my being there!

That's an Adder - you can tell by the zigzag pattern

I'm with you on this. Hillwalking in Scotland I've seen many Adders, but by the looks of this one it's pretty massive.
