Back when Old Nick was a little lad, I remember seeing a film of Cmr Cousteua filming Sharks

His team speared a fish and stuffed it with the latest American shark repellent..

The shark turned up, took a mighty gulp and swam off with the repellent stuffed fish trailing a cloud like an aircraft about to crash :)
