(Sharing this on behalf of my friend Nathan Eade....)

Nathan has recently had a go at converting the wooden handle of his Svord Peasant Knife to an Antler one, looks great and works well.

The photos are a little bleached in parts and don't do the antler full justice, I think it looks great, well done Nathan! Hopefully he'll have a go at posting to share with us his experience of doing this MOD & working the antler.

That looks awesome!
I'm hoping (and hinting lots) that mrs Roadkill is gonna get me one of these for my bday :D
I have a couple of antlers kicking about, and I'd like to try this mod, should she be a good girl :D
I have zero experience of working antler, so I would be really interested in catching the conversion posts ;D

Wow, that looks lovely Paul, done that one yourself? What process was done to the wood? Is it original?

I love to see people taking these Svord Peasant Knives and customising them to make them their own. They are a beautiful little EDC for a wonderful price however the quality straight out of the factory has been going significantly down hill lately... I've purchased a number of them recently for xmas/birthday presents and I have had to work on them a lot due to very poorly finished parts - however what can you expect for the price?

The materials & design seem to be great so I think it's well worth getting one and working to finish & customise it yourself, but to someone who isn't willing to do that and just wants a pocket knife ready to go I don't think I could recommend this one anymore?

These are great wee knives, every bushcrafter should own one and that mod is fantastic, nothing looks better on a knife than an antler handle..

Thats a great looking mod Ash, interesting the way the tang protrudes like that-reminds me of a 'clam' or 'open razor' woud it have been used for shaving? , is it a traditional knife or a modern pattern ?

thanks ash, the wood is called diamond wood, got it from e-bay for about 8pounds, i don't completely understand the process but its impregnated with some kind of plastic and stablised under high pressure, looks nice and comes in loads of finishes!

I know I'm late coming to this thread (as usual :)), but I'm currently modifying a Svord peasant and will be posting the result somewhere. This thread seems to be a good spot. Is that ok?

You are late? Heck, I am latest! I love that knife, and even though I'm making my own these days, I'd still love to buy one, the look and the style really appeal to me.

I think there in lies the appeal to so many :) It's a traditional, functional blade.

Exactly, I love the straight razor function of it, plus the raw forged and ground look of it.

Wood delivery has been slightly delayed, so no idea when I'll be bale to finish mine off. I may bodge it with other woods (seeing as the blade hasn't turned out great), so will try and get on with that during the week. :)

Even though Heinnie say standard delivery is 3-5 working days, it's normally there the next working day, if you order before midday (or at least in my experience), as long as it's a stock item.
