More good news: the Obama administration suspended the permits for oil exploration in US waters in the Arctic until 2017.

Congratulations with Shell. So what are the plans for Russia? After all they have massive oil and gas operations in the arctic, and do not stop to care a second for the environment.

Thank You FishyFolk :) We really don't know the exact solution with this issue, but I think the power of people will support to stop it.

Support from what people?
The russians don't care what foreigners think about their policies. And the the Putin regime is throwing every environmentalist that dares to raise a voice in prison, and forces every NGO that recieves funds from abroad to register as foreign agents. So most NGO's have given up and are closing their offices in Russia.


But if you want to take out big oil in the arctic, go for the Russians. I suggest you start with Gazprom. Just be warned, when the last time Green Peace tried a protest, they where arrested and charged with piracy.

When it comes to Shell...it was the current oil prices that shelved their bid for Arctic drilling, not protests...
