When looking at the main forum webpage, on the "off topic" section it simply says something like:
" Introduce yourself and others"

That can be perceived as a compulsory action for someone new to the forum/website.
I'm not on Facebook or Google or anything like that , so I speak as a forums novice too...

We like to encourage the intro as it is a nice way for new folk to say hello and let forum members get an idea of the newbies interests and level of knowledge etc. I was worried that another member was being a little forceful in their requests as has happened in the past. I don't like pushy horrible members as my ban finger won't stop twitching until it gets used.

Sure, I get it.
Just thought I'd mention.
We are grateful for the friendly helpful nature of this group...and for the moderators twitchy fingers... :)

It's a melting pot of information that cuts out a lot of the trial/error and guess work on the field...
And for a total begginer like me and my young uns it's a great place to sit and learn together... Safely.
By the way I'm also very impressed that there are no adverts.
Altruism is a virtue and here is abundant.
