To be blunt this is unlike any folding saw i have used, so i put it through the paces this morning.
Technical Features
- 19-4/5-inch (500 mm) blade length
- 46-3/8-inch (1,185 mm) overall length
- 26-inch (665 mm) folded length
- 4 teeth per inch (5 teeth per 30 mm) teeth configuration
- 2 pound (920 grams) weight
- Comes with black carrying case made of strong synthetic fibre
- Security screw protects against accidental opening or closing of the blade
-For me the saw cost $200 Canadian
13587
13588
Now this is very important, there is a safety feature on opening and closing the saw.
The black screw on the the back of the saw is the opening and locking mechanism,
to operate unscrew and push the lever in and open the saw then retighten the screw to
prevent the saw from closing if the lever is hit unintentionally.
When closing unscrew the locking mechanism and fold the saw inwards the blade will
only go part way, just like in the second picture. The lever has to be pushed a second time
before it can be push all the way home. This will save your fingers as the blade is very sharp!
For my test I cut down a spruce tree that was blown part of the way down in the last wind storm
and was a hazard.
It measured 18 1/2" in diameter.
The saw cuts on the pull stroke and was very smooth as you can see in the next photo
13589
I timed myself cutting the tree, giving myself five hours before the wife gets home.
To cut through an 18 1/2" tree took 6 minutes and 35 seconds, had nothing to worry about
loads of time to spare.
This saw is unbelievable very well made and a joy to use.
It has a permeant place on my quad as it has replaced my chainsaw and my bucksaw now lives
in the cupboard as it is incapable of doing any of the work that this saw is capable of doing.
Doing upkeep on our trails is now a form of exercise and it is quite to boot.
The saw comes with a well made synthetic bag which has a shoulder sling.
13590
As a bonus there is a second sleeve on the bag, in which i carry my Wetterlings bushcraft axe.
13591
I would highly recommend this saw to anyone who would be spending time processing wood
for either firewood or for shelter use.
I can find no fault with this tool after having it and use it for eight months.
The cost might be a little step but having used it a lot it is worth it.
And just remember any one can struggle but you don't have to with prior planning.
