hello,
I did see similar in a Mountaineering store in Glasgow. I'll have another browse, as most of the stock I browsed this week was more Stanley utility stainless steel water bottles & mugs. I think you'll probably find a lot of these Sigg brands via Amazon www.amazon.co.uk if that's of use to you?
Regards
David

Thanks very much Peaks, I have been looking for this item for a long time.

Not dealt with them myself - but folks who like trad kit seem to think they are good from reviews I've seen.

Suspect you can't go far wrong with a bottle + mug. The leather pieces are probably replaceable - theres enough skilled leather workers on this + other bushcraft sites

Also came across this : https://www.bergzeit.co.uk/primus-drinking-bottle-0-4l/?gclid=Cj0KEQjwosK4BRCYhsngx4_SybcBEiQAowaCJR4agve uaCKVNmYyv1w22MhQa0XEhZ8ahgOW5sJ1JJgaAlgO8P8HAQ

Thats great they have a few other items that got my taste buds going...shame the cape is out of production.
The leather work isn't a problem for me as I would replace that myself (I'm currently designing a leather Haversack based on a mining bag)
The other two sites had the bottle but don't deliver to the colonies lol
Thanks again for your help
John

If getting stuff delivered to "The Colonies" is an issue let me know. I'm happy to send stuff over - am sure we can sort something out re postage etc.
Sounds like you are pretty versatile when it comes to making stuff.....

I'm curious about your Mining bag - theres a long history (back to Roman times) of lead + coal mining where I live - whats a mining bag please?

Well this bag was issued to me last year when I was working in a uranium mine in Saskatchewan
13618
400mm long 333mm high
13619
200mmin depth
13620
Put my hatchet in the bottom for size, also has inner pocket
Nylon base and canvas sewn to that, very roomy
A very large haversack!
Sorry got carried away thanks very much for the offer to send things over, i even have that same problem out of the US
Thinking of a very thick cow hide bottom ( same as the nylon blue base)and either elk or moose for the side and flap (canvas parts)
plus adding straps on the bottom to carry my blanket.

Thanks for the pics of the bag - that looks like a good size + a useful piece of kit. Can see why you are thinking of a leather version.

Let me know if you need stuff sending over.

They are mining for Uranium in Saskatchewan????[emoji33] [emoji33] [emoji36] [emoji88]

... Another beautiful part of the world being put at risk for the profit of a few...

Where to next, Yellowstone? Sandvik, Faroe Islands? Eagle, Alaska? Borneo? Or maybe Svalbard?

Sometimes I'm not very proud of my species...

Sorry off topic rant again....

Here's a funny pic to compensate...
...and yep, that is a jerrycan

I'm all for gathering Uranium for use in nuclear power stations, its safe, clean and works...unlike the blooming windmills the 'right on' brigade' promote building all over Wales (that don't work half the time, the windmills not the promoters)... sorry for the off topic rant again.

Back to the original topic; I had ten of the old Sigg flasks/cups off a fellow stove collector in America back around 2006. They were very cheap even with shipping and I sold nine on ebay and gave the last one away a few years ago. To be honest they are nothing more than a hip flask, small in volume and the cup is not up to much IMHO

Something like http://www.the-surplus.co.uk/ourshop/prod_3397773-Army-Aluminium-Drinking-Water-Bottle.html might be better

Woody the mining is not damaging to the land, waste water from the mine is cleaner than the lake water before its released and the mine is 500meters deep the only thing that is seen above ground is the airport landing strip the camp and a very small shipping centre. All processing is done under ground so even if there was a spill the ground there is radioactive.
I like the jerry can, i should make one up for my quad:)

Richard we have the windmills here as well but their carbon print is bigger than a coal fired power planet when you take into account on how they are made.
Oh I hope I'm not going to be disappointed by the sign bottle & mug. I have a 40oz clean canteen (round bottle) that I'm using as the moment maybe I should
just get a mug that would fit that and then make up a leather case for it.

Wow! "...Its safe, its clean and it works..."
Lol

Really? That's really scientific there sir...
If I had known you'd go through so much trouble to back your statement with concrete evidence , I would have left this well alone...

Here is my counter argument...

Uranium is radioactive, detrimental to the environment ( water, flora and fauna).
Here is some more information and evidence to back up my statement:

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Uranium_in_the_environment

http://serc.carleton.edu/research_education/nativelands/navajo/environmental.html

http://www.ippnw.org/pdf/uranium-factsheet4.pdf

http://www.wise-uranium.org/uwai.html

But of course that's OK, just as long as they don't do it near the river Dee or anywhere in Great Britain...

The Saskatchewan mines specifically :
http://environmentalsociety.ca/issues/uranium-and-nuclear/

And a little video too:

http://environmentalsociety.ca/publications/uranium-and-nuclear/2015/uranium-lets-talk-about-it/

As you can see, the indigenous and local peoples are the ones that take the brunt of these "decommissioned" ( corporate word for abandoned) mines, as from the studies and statements gathered.

As for the windmills , there is a danger...
Maybe one day , one will fall on someone's head , or the wind will stop blowing ...

Sorry , childish rant over....

Here's a good example of engineering...

They are OK I just could not find a use for them other than a hip flask. Did the Swiss army have a specialist use for them? Too small to be a canteen and the cup too small for a good brew. There must be logic in its design.

Richard thanks for the input about the size of the bottle & mug that would have been an issue.
On to plan B I have a 40oz clean canteen (cylindrical) I buy a mug to fit the bottom then make something like this.

Have a belt attachment plus carry strap.

Rik-uk3 and John61 , I'm sorry for ranting and for butting in uninvited.... It's a sore subject for me, nature and the environment, conservation and sustainable development.

Not the place for this , and uncalled for , so my sincere apologies.
