The local fire chief just banned all forms of open fire in my local municipallity.
The fire department was out on 24 different grass and brush fires, as we have had no rain, and the
snow has melted in low laying areas, exposing the winters dead brush.

It's all bone dry and yellow out there, so untiul we get some greens coming out and some heavy rain, no outside brew ups fro me :-(

Well, he is reffering to the law.

But he says in the official notification that:

"To light fire or use fire hazardous items must be be broadly understood. It certainly include the use of disposable barbecue grills, and other fire and fire place devices that
can lead to the start of a forest or brush fire."

I interpret that as yes.

But he also says that you can make a camp fire where it is obvious that it wont start a brush fire. (By "where it is obvious that it wont start a brush fire" is where the ground is covered by snow, or if it has been raining for an extended length of time). But in all cases it is the one that lights a fire that will bear the full responsibility for their actions.

Rememeber that the beach often is right nextr to areas that are very dry and is a fire hazard.
