Whilst splitting firewood I couldn't help but admire the grain in this Eucalyptus log, I needed to make a present for somebody so...

I made some salad spoons!

Really nice work! I've recently gotten into carving because I'm writing a Masters dissertation about woodworking and was wondering if you'd be willing to answer a couple of questions about your project?

This spoon and fork salad set is really beautiful. I did not know you had eucalyptus trees in England.

How long did it take to develop the skills to make these quality pieces?

Hi Dan, sorry I didn't mean it to sound blase... it's certainly not something I knocked up inbetween chopping logs!.. I merely noticed the nice grain in the wood whilst chopping and kept them aside. This project did take me many hours of work which I did across a number of days. Was quite enjoyable though.

Very nice Ash!

I recently bought a set of carving knives so hoping to give this a go soon. :)

I love the slightly blase ay you state it was a little project in between chopping logs. If that was me I'd have to spend a week attempting to carve a single spoon and like Homer Simpson would probably have carved a little spoon from a big spoon.
